MONALISA at Santa Eufemia School
Bringing soil awareness to the classroom at CEIP San Pedro y Santa Teresa
On 6 November 2025, the MONALISA project reached a very special audience: the students of CEIP San Pedro y Santa Teresa in Santa Eufemia (Córdoba, Spain). The session, hosted on-site by ADROCHES, was designed as an interactive introduction to MONALISA – helping young people understand why soil matters and how European projects are working to protect it.
A local school visit with a European message
Although MONALISA operates at a European scale, many of its most important impacts start locally – through awareness, education, and community engagement. In this workshop-style session, Aleix Antonell and Juan Francisco Díaz (ADROCHES) presented the main goals of the project and discussed soil degradation in a way that was accessible and relevant for students.
With a small group the format allowed for close interaction, questions, and a more personal exchange – ideal for supporting curiosity and learning.
What we shared with the students
The presentation focused on three simple ideas:
Soil is living and essential: it supports food production, biodiversity, and water regulation.
Soil degradation affects everyone: erosion, loss of fertility, and other pressures can reduce resilience in rural areas.
Science and innovation can help: projects like MONALISA work on monitoring, understanding, and reducing soil degradation so that land can remain productive and healthy.
Why school engagement matters
Working with students is not only about sharing information – it’s about building the next generation’s connection to the land. By discussing soil health early, we support:
environmental responsibility,
critical thinking about sustainability, and
a stronger link between rural communities and science.
ADROCHES would like to thank CEIP San Pedro y Santa Teresa for the warm welcome and the students for their participation and interest. Activities like this show how local engagement can strengthen broader efforts to protect natural resources.
