MONALISA reaches La Inmaculada High School in Pozoblanco

Engaging young people on soil health, sustainability, and local resilience

On 25 November 2025, ADROCHES continued its educational outreach by hosting a MONALISA exposition at La Inmaculada High School in Pozoblanco (Córdoba, Spain). The on-site activity welcomed a large group of around 84 participants, creating an excellent opportunity to bring the project’s key messages to a broad student audience.

Soil is often “under the radar,” yet it is one of the most important resources for rural territories – supporting food production, biodiversity, water regulation, and climate resilience. During the exposition, Aleix Antonell and Juan Francisco Díaz (ADROCHES) introduced the MONALISA project and explained why preventing and understanding soil degradation is essential for both environmental and socio-economic sustainability.

With older students, the session also created space to discuss soil health in a wider context – linking local land management challenges to European research, innovation, and long-term policy priorities.

The activity focused on three core ideas:

  • Soil is a strategic resource, not an unlimited one.

  • Soil degradation has real consequences, including erosion, reduced fertility, and weaker resilience to drought and extreme weather.

  • MONALISA supports better decisions and practices by improving knowledge, monitoring approaches, and awareness, so land can remain healthy and productive.

Reaching students at this age is especially valuable: it supports informed thinking about sustainability, encourages interest in science and innovation, and helps young people see how local realities connect to broader European initiatives. These conversations can shape future choices, whether in studies, careers, or community engagement.

MONALISA project sincerely thanks the staff and students of La Inmaculada High School for the warm welcome and active participation. This way MONALISA is brought closer to local communities through education and dialogue.
