In December 2025, ADROCHES brought the MONALISA project into classrooms across Los Pedroches (Córdoba) through a series of on-site school workshops focused on the importance of healthy soils.
Throughout the month, the team worked with students to explore the idea that soil is not simply “ground,” but a living system that supports food production, biodiversity, and water cycles, while playing an essential role in the resilience of rural landscapes. The workshops were designed to be practical and participatory, encouraging questions, discussion, and connections to everyday life in the local environment.
The activities began on 2 December 2025 in Veredas Public School in Torrecampo, where the MONALISA project was presented and the value of healthy soils was discussed. The programme continued on 10 December at CEIP NTRA. SRA. de Loreto in Dos Torres, followed by a session on 16 December at CEIP Sor Felipa de la Cruz in Belalcázar. The series concluded on 17 December with two workshops: one at CEIP Virgen de Luna in Pozoblanco, and another at Maestro J. Hidalgo in Cardeña.
All sessions were delivered by Aleix Antonell and Juan Francisco Díaz (ADROCHES). In total, five workshops were held, reaching 206 participants across the different school communities.
ADROCHES thanks the teaching teams and students for their welcome and active participation. These visits highlight the value of environmental education in rural areas and support long-term awareness of soil conservation as a shared responsibility.
Why this matters
Engaging young people is a practical investment in long-term soil stewardship. Activities like this help build awareness of how soils support agriculture, ecosystems, and livelihoods – and how local actions and informed decisions can contribute to land degradation mitigation.
Next steps
ADROCHES will continue local engagement activities in Los Pedroches to strengthen participation in MONALISA initiatives and ensure that Living Lab outputs reflect local needs, perspectives, and priorities.
