In January 2026, ADROCHES continued bringing the MONALISA project into schools across Los Pedroches (Córdoba), reinforcing a simple idea with long-term impact: healthy soils are essential for healthy communities.
Soil is often invisible in everyday conversations, yet it supports agriculture and food systems, filters and stores water, sustains biodiversity, and contributes to climate resilience. Through a series of on-site workshops, ADROCHES created space for students to explore how soil functions as a living system and why protecting it matters for the future of rural territories.
The workshops were delivered by Aleix Antonell and Juan Francisco Díaz (ADROCHES) and were designed to be practical and participatory, encouraging students to ask questions, share observations from their own environment, and connect soil health to familiar landscapes and local livelihoods.
Across the month, ADROCHES reached 340 participants through six workshops held in several towns in the region. The programme began on 9 January 2026 with a session at CEIP Simón Obejo y Valera (Pedroche), followed by 12 January at NTRA. SRA. de la Peña (Añora). The activities continued on 21 January at CEIP María Moreno (Villanueva de Córdoba) and on 22 January at Maestro Jurado (Hinojosa del Duque). In the final week of the month, two sessions took place in Pozoblanco: 26 January at IES Ricardo Delgado Vizcaíno, and 29 January at Colegio Salesianos.
ADROCHES thanks the teaching teams and students for their warm welcome and active participation. These workshops show how environmental education can strengthen local awareness from an early age and help build a shared understanding of soil conservation as a practical, everyday responsibility.
