MONALISA highlighted by CIHEAM during national webinar on future Horizon Europe “SOILS” calls

June 10, 2026

On 19 May 2026, the MONALISA project was presented by CIHEAM during a national webinar organised by the General Commission for Sustainable Development (CGDD) of the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, dedicated to future “SOILS” calls for proposals under the Horizon Europe programme.

The event brought together stakeholders from research, business, public institutions and local authorities to discuss key challenges related to soil monitoring, decontamination, resilience and sustainable soil management across Europe.

Representing CIHEAM, Yasmine Seghirate, Administrator at the CIHEAM General Secretariat, introduced the MONALISA project and its contribution to the prevention and restoration of land degradation and desertification in Mediterranean drylands.

Within the consortium, CIHEAM leads Work Package 5, dedicated to dissemination, communication, exploitation of results and capacity building. Through the joint expertise of CIHEAM Bari and the CIHEAM General Secretariat, this work aims to strengthen the connection between scientific research, territorial cooperation and policy-oriented recommendations for the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The webinar also featured contributions from Microhumus, ARVALIS and INRAE, highlighting complementary initiatives addressing soil remediation, Living Labs, soil health and the structuring of soil data in Europe.

The discussion underlined the importance of the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe” and its Living Labs approach, which places farmers, land managers, businesses, local authorities and other end-users at the centre of co-creation and innovation.
