MONALISA Forum: Now live - first discussion topic is priorities for implementing the Soil Monitoring & Resilience Directive, especially for Mediterranean areas at high desertification risk.
Community of Knowledge Meeting (10 Oct): First KC meeting (≈90 members) introduced how the community will work, shared MONALISA + TERRASAFE updates, and collected collaboration priorities via live polls.
MONALISA General Assembly (22 Oct, Valenzano): Milestone meeting on monitoring, preventing, and helping reverse LDD, with focus on Mediterranean case studies, Europe-wide monitoring, digital innovation, and community building.
Café Talk (30 Oct): AI/ML and remote sensing for LDD with keynote speakers + young researchers’ presentations; next Café Talk planned for late April 2026 (LDD assessment & policy).
Policy & events: MONALISA/DNI side event at UNCCD CRIC23 (Panama); EU-wide Soil Monitoring framework enters into force 16 Dec 2025 (EU experts meeting 27 Jan 2026); MONALISA joined Soil Week 2025 in Aarhus.
Upcoming conferences (2026): Global Soil Biodiversity (Vancouver), EGU (Vienna), SWDCC (Djerba), World Congress of Soil Science (Nanjing), Land Degradation & Restoration (Valencia), and Soils for Europe 2026 (co-organised by MONALISA).
