Dear colleagues, this is to share our opinion on how to help the implementation of the Directive to be effective in MED areas prone to desertification risk. Let's use tis Forum to exchage points of view, critics and proposals.

Land degradation indicators include a minimum set of globally agreed metrics - land cover change, land productivity (using Net Primary Production or NDVI), and soil organic carbon.

Other indicators monitor specific processes and conditions such as soil erosion, soil moisture, and biodiversity loss. Some methods combine multiple indicators to provide a more comprehensive assessment of land condition.
