Who We are
The MONALISA project (MONitoring and Assessing prevention and restoration soLutIons to combat deSertificAtion), an Innovation Action Horizon project aimed at preventing and reversing Land Degradation and Desertification (LDD) across Mediterranean drylands, has started with the Kick-off Meeting hosted by Università degli Studi di Sassari (UNISS) in Sassari, Italy. The project is funded under the Horizon Europe program under the topic HORIZON-MISS-2023-SOIL-01-04, with the total budget of € 7.325.993,75. The Granting Authority for this project is the European Research Executive Agency (REA), under the European Commission.

Case Studies
The six case studies will engage researchers and various stakeholders – including NGOs, farmers, land managers, and extension services – to collaboratively design, implement, and evaluate a variety of innovative solutions for the prevention and mitigation of land degradation in the Mediterranean Area.

Led by the University of Sassari, MONALISA brings together 20 partners, 2 associated partners and one affiliated entity from top R&D centres, academic leading institutions, SMEs and NGOs to identify and promote solutions to minimise and mitigate desertification through a multi-modular practice-oriented Decision Support System using web-based applications.
