Hybrid Workshop on Stakeholder Engagement for MOMA Inner Area

March 14, 2025

On February 27, 2025, Fondazione MEDES hosted a hybrid workshop at Sala Zanardelli in Stigliano, Matera, Italy, to plan ongoing stakeholder engagement and future partnerships for the MOMA (Montagna Materana) Inner Area. This event, co-organized with the TERRASAFE project, aimed to co-create and implement social innovations to combat land degradation and abandonment in semi-arid and fragile ecosystems.

The workshop engaged a wide range of participants, including policy and decision-makers, environmental stakeholders, scientific researchers, and community representatives. Discussions focused on developing strategies to enhance resilience and sustainability in these regions, with an emphasis on the collaborative efforts of the TERRASAFE and MONALISA projects.

By fostering a multi-actor approach, this event highlighted the importance of integrating scientific knowledge with practical solutions to address the complex challenges of land degradation in Southern Italy.

This workshop, together with Workshop on Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships for SETA Inner Area, underscored the critical role of stakeholder engagement and collaboration in promoting sustainable land management and combating desertification in vulnerable areas.
