Synopsis: Living Earth is a standardised framework designed to provide consistent, flexible, and scalable classification of land cover data across various spatial and temporal scales. Developed to support environmental monitoring, land management, and sustainable development initiatives, Living Earth LCCS integrates Earth observation data with semantic rules to generate accurate, interpretable land cover classifications. Its modular structure accommodates diverse ecological and anthropogenic features, enabling users to harmonize local and global datasets.
The aim of this session is to present and discuss how such an approach could be applied in MONALISA and support the wider objective of assessing the different dimensions of land degradation such as sensitivity, monitoring, severity and ultimately identifying drivers of land degradation.
