CNR
CNR is the largest public research organization in Italy aiming to carry out, promote, spread, transfer and improve research activities in the main sectors of knowledge with applications for the scientific, technological, economic and social development of Italy. CNR is distributed all over Italy through a network of more than 100 institutes. CNR participates at MONALISA project with 3 institutes: Institute of Atmospheric Pollution Research (IIA) with the offices in Rome (Montelibretti) – Florence – Bari, Research Institute on Sustainable Economic Growth (IRCrES), Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering (IGAG). CNR-IIA focuses on new innovative methodologies for monitoring and studying air quality and safeguarding the environment, climate and biodiversity by means of Earth Observation data relying on geospatial data sharing and Big Data interoperability. CNR-IRCrES focuses on socio-economic analysis of environment and evaluation of public policies. CNR-IGAG focuses on geological and natural processes and anthropogenic activities that interact with the environment, activities and human life.
CNR-IIA and CNR-IGAG will contribute to:
- testing and tuning the methodology for monitoring Land Degradation and Desertification status at European and case study scale;
- carry on restoration activities started in NewLife4Drylands (LIFE20 PRE/IT/000007) project;
- analyse data and model interoperability to support advanced applications.
CNR-IRCrES will contribute to the socio-economic and participatory analysis with local actors for the adoption of innovative solutions.
