ISPRA
ISPRA is a public research body, with technical, scientific, organizational, managerial, administrative and financial autonomy, subject to the vigilance of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security. It is the institutional and technical-scientific reference point for the whole country in the fields of land monitoring, production of environmental data and is directly involved in the land degradation assessment for Italy.
ISPRA will be involved in setting up an innovative methodology for assessing and monitoring land degradation and desertification risk in Europe and Mediterranean region. Furthermore, a European knowledge community will be established to create a space for sharing and discussing on desertification.
“If we want steer the decline of land degradation and desertification, we need to create a monitoring framework able to predict trends to be effective in our actions.”
