Sapienza

Founded in 1303, Sapienza is the oldest university in Rome and the largest in Europe. Sapienza is structured into 11 faculties, 57 departments, and numerous research and service centres. Sapienza is involved in the MONALISA project with the Department of Environmental Biology (DBA). Research is related to anthropology, bioethics, botany, chemistry, plant ecology, plant pathology, and paleoecology, and the complexity of organisms and their interactions with the environment.

Sapienza contributes to:

  • Modelling several aspects of the project (WP4) in collaboration with AARHUS, CIHEAM, UNISS, and CNR
  • Contribute to plant ecology and biodiversity conservation efforts alongside UNISS, CNR, and CREAF
  • Share its expertise in data science and artificial intelligence, partnering with CNR and UniGe
  • Integrate Social Sciences and Humanities into the project to develop a participatory and trans-disciplinary approach within the living labs and lighthouse areas.

“Predictive models will be developed using a bottom-up approach to quantify environmental and socioeconomic variables in Mediterranean Livestock Living Labs. This will involve estimating carbon gain and loss from various activities and simulating soil carbon dynamics to explore alternative management scenarios.”
