The University of Bucharest is one of the most important higher education institutions in Romania, which aims to transfer knowledge through educational activities and scientific research in order to contribute to the development of the Romanian society. This public institution promotes research activity at the highest standards by developing and improving the research infrastructure, consolidating its position within the national research system, increasing international visibility, and by developing international interdisciplinary collaborations. Contribution in setting and implementing the risk assessment methodology for land degradation and desertification across the countries of the Mediterranean and central south-eastern regions of Europe.
