MONALISA Project: Combatting Land Degradation and Desertification

The MONALISA project aims to prevent and reverse land degradation and desertification (LDD) across Mediterranean drylands. This EU-funded initiative brings together a diverse consortium of 20 partners from 9 countries. Through innovative practices, field implementations, and stakeholder engagement, MONALISA addresses the socio-economic and environmental impacts of LDD. Key solutions include adaptive grazing systems, water harvesting, and ecological restoration, supported by advanced technologies like AI and remote sensing. The project spans six Mediterranean case studies and runs until August 2028.
